The following observations are made on behalf of the Ramblers Association.
The right of way, Adbaston Footpath 34, passes along the eastern edge of the field where a leylandii hedge has been planted along the field boundary. The footpath passes between this hedge and a barbed wire fence that isolates the path from the remainder of the paddock. The consequence is that the path is obstructed by outgrowth from the hedge. A further consequence is that the livestock can no longer graze the vegetation that grows up from the surface of the path which therefore becomes overgrown. On the day of my inspection this was particularly annoying because a clear path had recently been mown on the paddock side of the barbed wire extending from the entrance gate to the site of the proposed stable block. At the south east corner of the paddock there is a stile which has become redundant as a consequence of the footpath having been fenced off from the rest of the paddock. Redundant stiles are an unnecessary obstruction of the footpath.
My association has one reservation concerning the position of the proposed stable block. The field slopes down from west to east and it is proposed that the stable block be built in the south eastern corner. In consequence there is the threat, unless avoidance measures are taken, that drainage from the stables will flood across the right of way.
